The Project
The goal of the Learning through Gaming project was to design a computer game which would teach elementary school children how computers work. After this age period interest in computer science drops so it is important that children get engaged at a young age. As the technology surrounding computers is evolving everyday, we chose to create a game which teaches how computers actually think rather then how their hardware works.
The Game
Our game, Of Bits and Bots: The Digital Adventures of Alice, is actually a series of minigames designed to teach various aspects of how computers think. There are seperate minigames which cover four topics; binary numbers, binary logic, memory access, and program flow. More information on these individual games came be found in our documentation.
