What is the OFN?

As food conglomerates grow in size and power, they demand lower prices and less sustainable practices from farmers. The Open Food Network provides an online platform to connect producers directly to other producers and hubs, cutting out the middle man and decentralizing the food network. For our comps project, we delivered bug fixes and built interactive API documentation for this growing nonprofit.

Developers worldwide can contribute to the OFN's growing repository. This lets us adapt the project to different languages and locales, crowd-source bug management, and give budding developers an opportunity to earn their wings.

With a suite of popular technologies, the OFN is a playground of new skills to learn. Ruby on Rails for web framework, Spree for E-Commerce, Angular for front-end, and CoffeeScript, Haml, and Sass to simplify JS, HTML, and CSS.
