CS Comps Gala: Saturday 2/29/20
The CS Comps Gala is happening Saturday 2/29/20 in the Weitz. During the lightning talks (starting at 9am in Weitz Cinema), each group will present an overview of their project for 4 minutes. Afterwards, there will be three parallel tracks of talks.
Weitz 236:
- Knowledge Graph Knows: Song Recommendations via a Neural Network on Paths (9:45am)
- Bird Transformers: Modifying Birds Using Natural Language (10:25am)
- A Gang of Bandits: Using Social Networks to Inform Content Recommendations (11:05am)
Weitz cinema:
- Six Alternatives to Squinting Really Hard: A Comparison of Image Segmentation Algorithms (9:45am)
- Debugging the Criminal Justice System (10:45am)
Shackel Rehearsal Hall (Music 126, in new edition of the Weitz):
- Network Analysis Algorithms for Disease Gene Prioritization (9:45am)
- That’s Not Fair: Identifying and Reducing Bias in Machine Learning (10:45am)
Part 1: Attend a talk
Choose one of the talks to attend (the lightning talk version is not enough – it has to be the full talk). Attend the talk and take some notes.
Part 2: Write a reflection
Write a two-paragraph reflection on the talk.
In the first paragraph, you should:
- describe the topic,
- describe their goals, and
- describe the contributions/results.
In the second paragraph, you should:
- list one thing you learned from the talk,
- list one question you have after attending the talk, and
- list one way to extend their work in the future (either that they said or that you think could be done).
What you should submit
You should submit your reflection as a single document (e.g., .txt, .docx, .pdf) on Moodle.
