Syntax-driven semantics
For this assignment, use the handout I gave you in class to provide semantic
analyses for the following sentences.
- A big dog eats cookies.
- A big dog eats cookies in the kitchen.
- Eat cookies in the kitchen.
- Eat the dog's cookies in the kitchen.
- Which dog eats cookies?
Please hand in:
- A grammar+lexicon sufficient to cover the sentences shown above, and
showing semantic attachments for each rule.
- For each sentence, show a parse tree with semantic attachments at
each interior node in the tree. There is potential for syntactic ambiguity (are the
cookies in the kitchen, or is the eating in the kitchen?), but you need only provide for one
of the possible parse trees.
