Web application: first draft code review
Type your notes and send via Slack (see below)
Goals
- look at what some classmates are doing and learn from it
- offer your experience to your classmates so they can learn from you
Your tasks
- Receive info from Jeff on Slack about which two projects you should take a look at. You should get this information by mid-day Tuesday, Nov 15.
- If you have not committed your data.sql to your GitHub repository, please attach it to a Slack DM for your classmates who will be looking at your code.
- Review your two projects in the order Jeff specified. (Specifically, for example, if you are in one of Groups 4-5-6 who are mutually reviewing each other, you should review the other two groups by starting with the one that comes after you in circular 4-5-6 order. For example, Group 5 should review Group 6 first; Group 6 should review Group 4 first; Group 4 should review Group 5 first.)
- For each project:
- Follow the how we will test this draft instructions from the first-draft assignment.
- Take notes about what you think is good, what you think could be improved, etc.
- Write down the 1-2 most important good things and the 1-2 most important needs-work things in a form that you can share with the authors of the project.
- Send your notes via Slack DM to the authors of the project and to Jeff.
- Spend no more than 60 minutes (for the two projects combined) on this. Try to pace yourself so you can look at both projects, but in any case, if it's taking too long, just stop, and record where you stopped in your notes. You will not be marked down for hitting the 1-hour mark before you're done.
