Partner policy the rest of the term

As a matter of workload control, I need your help.

If this class were smaller, I would be happy to let you decide whether to work with a partner or not on most assignments. But since I have no grader to assist me, and it takes several hours for me to grade an assignment even when you work in pairs, I'm going to keep requiring you to work with a partner for future assignments just so I can get you reasonably timely feedback.

That said, I think you have now met enough of your classmates that it's time to remove myself from the role of partner matchmaker. So here's the partner algorithm for the rest of this term.

For each assignment:

1. If you and one or two other people agree that you want to be partners for the assignment, just go ahead and work together. Put all partner names at the top of each document you submit.
2. If you don't have a partner, Slack DM me your interest in being assigned a partner.
3. As soon as one additional person has expressed interest in being assigned a partner, I will assign you to work with that person. I'll let you both know via Slack DM.
4. If you haven't heard from me within 24 hours, you should assume that I am granting you permission to work alone for this assignment, because I don't have anybody to assign you as a partner.

Note that it's not OK to just wait until late in the process and then work alone without telling me. I want you to either pick a partner yourself or tell me to pick a partner for you.
