Things to hand in

• Assigned Monday 9/13/99, due Wednesday 9/15/99. Login to your Math/CS account and send me e-mail at jondich. I'd love to hear the story of your experiences with computers, and what inspired you to take this course. Feel free to write briefly or at length, and in prose or verse, as you see fit. If you have questions, ask them. I'll try to answer.
  
  
• Assigned Monday 9/13/99. Sign up for the Edupage e-mail news service. Twice each week, Edupage subscribers receive a short collection of summaries of computer-related news stories. We'll discuss some of these stories now and then in class. It takes me less than five minutes to read each edition of Edupage, and I usually learn something interesting.

• Assigned Friday, September 17. Due Friday, September 24. Words: how many, how long, how frequent? .
  
  
• Assigned Monday, September 24. Due Friday, October 1. Functions
  
  
• Assigned Wednesday, October 6. Do by Friday, October 8. DO NOT HAND IN. Try writing a few recursive functions. Here are some possible tasks.
  • Print the integers N down to 1.
  • Print the integers 1 up to N.
  • Print the integers 1 up to N, counting by 2's.
  • Compute N! ("N factorial", or 1*2*3*...*N).
  • Compute the Nth fibonacci number. (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,...).
  Also, take a look at fibonacci.cpp. Try it for a bunch of input values to make sure it's working. Then insert output statements into the Fibonacci() function to allow you to watch the function call/return sequence.
