Web server performance model
- The revenue earned by the server under policy p from serving request i to completion is a decaying exponential function of the response time (departure time - arrival time)
- The potential revenue is the revenue function evaluated at some time t prior to the departure time of request i under policy p.
- By the Renewal Reward Theorem, the average reward earned by the server per unit time under policy p is the expected value of the sum of the individual revenues of each request serviced during a busy cycle, divided by the expected length of one busy/idle cycle.
