Carleton Classifieds

Project Overview

Have you ever needed a ride to the cities but didn’t want to pay for a round trip on Northfield Lines? Or hoped to lend your fan to another Carleton student over the summer so you didn’t have to deal with storing it? Or wondered if there was a way to get that organic chemistry textbook for a cheaper price than at the bookstore? Carleton may have a tight-knit campus, but it can be hard to find people to fulfill requests such as these because there’s no single place for all community members to buy and sell items and services. That’s where our comps project comes in. Our team has spent Winter and Spring 2020 building a classified ads website specifically tailored to the needs of the Carleton community. We completed an in-depth user study and designed the system from the ground up in order to best accommodate each of the requirements found in our research. Our project is implemented using the Django and React frameworks and utilizes a Postgres database.

- Our Team -

We are a group of senior Computer Science Majors at Carleton College. Over the course of 2 terms, we built the code base for Carleton Classifieds. Special thanks to Prof. Sneha Narayan for her guidance along the way.
