About the Project

For our computer science comps project we launched NorthfieldCarpool.com. The purpose of this website is to connect drivers and riders within the Carleton and St. Olaf communities who commute between the Twin Cities and Northfield. Users are able to offer rides and find rides after registering with their Carleton or St. Olaf .edu email addresses. Each user is given a profile page after registration that contains information such as email address, optional first and last names, and any additional text they wish to share. All of this data is stored in a secure fashion as in any professional application. Users can also offer rides and find rides from our iPhone application that was submitted to the Apple iOS App Store. When users are looking for a ride they can either browse the entire list of rides or enter an ideal ride and let our algorithm match them with the best rides according to what is important to the user. We hope our Northfield Carpool website will make it even easier for Carleton and St. Olaf students and faculty to commute to and from the Twin Cities, saving time, money, and other resources.
