Fall 2018

hw01

  1. Read the syllabus (the course web page). Bring questions you have to class. You will sign something in the next item to indicate you read the syllabus.
  2. I would like to get to know each of you a bit. Print out survey 1 and fill it out.
  3. Read textbook "To the student" (p. viii) and the Prologue "Literacy for the Modern World" (P 1–12).

Write a paragraph or two for Prologue discussion question # 7 (P 13). Include at least three items from the Prologue reading in the last part ("encourage..."). If your handwriting is not easy to read, type your paragraph(s). Be careful to answer all 3 questions (there are 4 questions but 3 should apply to you).

  4. Read 2A (Chapter 2 section A) pp.68–86.

On a different piece of paper in your notebook write up solutions to

    2A Q # 2, 6-10; E # 14, 15, 18, 35, 36 (pp.86–89).

"Q" means Quick Quiz and "E" means Exercises. Typically, all written homework will be collected. However, since we are just starting up, I will NOT collect the 2A work this time.
