FAQ

How to turn in homework when missing class

Here are a few ways to turn in homework, listed in order of preference:
  1. Have a buddy hand in your homework in class.
  2. Slip your homework under my office door before class.
  3. Scan your homework to PDF (instructions for doing so with a smart phone) and email it to me before class. Assuming your scan's quality is acceptable, I'll print it out turn it in for you.
  4. Take a photo of your homework and email it to me before class (to timestamp it as proof of being done on time). Then, give me your homework next class. (Do not mix in with the homework due that day, because I will have to give your homework to a different TA to grade.) This method is less desirable as it is time-consuming for the TA to grade something later. You will also get your homework back a lot later.

What else to do

  1. For worksheets/handouts: If you tell me 2 or more class periods early, I may be able to bring handouts to you before you miss class. Otherwise I'll try to give them to you when you return; remind me if I forget.
  2. You are responsible to learn the content missed and turn in the next homework on time.
  3. As always, read the relevant section(s) in the textbook.
  4. Get notes from a classmate if possible.
  5. If you missed class because of sports or other exciting stuff, feel free to tell me how it goes.
