We set out to create a better attendance tracking system for the Key, a youth center in downtown
Northfield. There were a few design constraints we had to consider - whatever solution we created had to:
The Key is a local Northfield youth center located about a block from Econofoods. They are open from 3pm-10pm every day of the year for kids ages 12-20 . The mission of the Key is to empower youth and foster meaningful relationships.
The attendance tracking system of the Key was paper based. Because of this, the staff spent an inordinate amount of time on data entry,
time that kept them from building
relationships with the kids.
We designed a secure webapp with a database that:
- Eases the process of taking attendance and processing data
- Increases the amount of data they can collect
- Accomodates new types of data dynamically
- Generates reports efficiently
